I am a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, where I study Biomedical Engineering, Spanish, and Pre-Medicine. In my free time, I enjoy reading, Indian classical and fusion dance, playing my flute, and baking.
When I was in the fifth grade, my mother underwent an extensive brain surgery to remove a tumor. I decided to turn this family crisis into an opportunity for increased knowledge and personal growth. Obstinately, I spent hours analyzing brain maps, until I finally could pinpoint the exact location of the tumor in my mom’s brain. As I progressed to high school, my interest developed; I quickly began volunteering at a hospital and a doctor’s clinic. My passion for volunteering at medical facilities sparked my interest in pursuing a healthcare career, and it has enabled me to interact firsthand with struggling patients.
I have been blessed with so many wonderful opportunities. However, like the hospital patients, there are many struggling people around the world. To combat this problem, I continually strive to promote healthier habits and passion for service in my community. I believe that each individual can bring more positivity in the world, one small step at a time. Through Raise 4 a Cause, I want to help the less fortunate rebuild their lives and call the community to action.
